Q. Why should I take credit cards?

A. More and more people are using their credit and debit cards to pay for merchandise every day. It is more convenient for consumers, which translates into more sales for you. So it's never been more important for businesses to accept credit and debit card payments. Plus, it helps to manage your cash flow, and streamline your back office processes.

Q. What if I'm a small business on a budget? How can I get to the next level in payment acceptance?

A. No matter what size your business is, ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES offers programs custom-made to fit your business needs. We will review your business as it is today and what your plans are for the future. The program we recommend will be applicable to your business but flexible to expand as your business grows.

Q. How is my discount fee calculated and collected?

A. Your discount fee is calculated based on your total dollar volume of business and is deducted automatically from your account on the 10th of the following month.

Q. How can I apply for a merchant account?

A. To apply for a merchant account, call 1-800-365-7270, email us at sales@aptpayments.com, or complete our online rate quote form. An ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES representative will contact you to assist you with the application process.

Q. What type of bank account do I need to process credit cards?

A. Any standard business checking account is preferred. However, if you choose to deposit your funds into another type of bank account, your bank must allow your account to be credited and debited via ACH methods. Generally, no new bank accounts are needed to establish an account unless it is a new application and no account yet exists.

Q. How long will it take to set up my merchant account?

A. Your application can be approved and you can begin taking credit cards in as little as a couple of days.

Q. What cards will I be able to accept?

A. ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES processes every major credit and debit card including VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club.

Q. Do you provide the equipment that I will need to accept credit cards?

A. ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES is committed to bringing you the latest, most technologically advanced, user-friendly POS equipment in the industry. We offer a complete credit card processing program from merchant services through to POS terminals.

Q. Can I use my current processing equipment with ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES?

A. The majority of customers can use their own POS equipment with the ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES processing platform; we do our best to support the equipment currently used. However, if we do not support your current solutions, we will assist you with a compatible terminal.

Q. What kind of training do you provide?

A. ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES will schedule training with your initial setup. We have the technical and processing expertise to ensure that you and your staff have a smooth transition with operating your new processing system. And we are always willing to continually educate you on processing requirements and changes.

After you have received your POS terminal, we schedule a convenient time for you to be trained on running transactions, issuing credits and voids, settling daily batches, and other processes required for you to run your daily credit card transactions.

Q. How will I receive payment for these transactions?

A. Funds are automatically transferred to your business checking account via an electronic transfer typically within a few days from settlement and usually within 48 hours. Please note that online processing funding varies. Please talk to an ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES representative for details regarding online processing.

Q. Will I receive a merchant account statement?

A. Yes. As an ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES customer you will receive a comprehensive statement, which details your month's electronic payment transactions. You are automatically setup to view your statements online, unless you choose to opt out.

Your statement will be posted and/or mailed shortly after the first of the month. The transactions listed on the statement will dictate the funds deposited and deducted, as appropriate, from your account on the 10th of the month. Carefully review your statement and make sure it matches your reports. If you have questions pertaining to your statement you may call 1-800-654-9256.

Q. Am I required to have a physical storefront to process credit cards with ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES?

A. ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES does not require a physical storefront. We have many internet merchants and mail order accounts that operate from a residence and currently utilize our processing services.

Q. If I have special processing requests, how will I know if your merchant services can be integrated with my current systems?

A. ADVANCED PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES has many options for merchants with unique processing situations. We will propose a scenario that will assist you with integrating a complete electronic payment solution with your current systems.
